Why Jackrabbit?

At one time Jackrabbits were considered a pest in the United States and hunted to near extinction. So many were killed that some enterprising capitalists began to sell rabbit’s feet as something that would bring one luck.

Today, independent thinking is also considered an annoyance that political partisans and their “hired guns” relentlessly attack.

This often leads to people referring to the bizarre world of partisan politics and empire imperatives as “the rabbit hole”, a reference to “Through the looking glass” (aka “Alice in Wonderland”).

Merriam-Webster defines “rabbit hole as:

a complexly bizarre or difficult state or situation conceived of as a hole into which one falls or descends; especially : one in which the pursuit of something (such as an answer or solution) leads to other questions, problems, or pursuits
