Blogging has become easier and more complex.

It is easier if you just want to share your thoughts.

It is more complex if you want to be a ‘successful blogger’ that says important things and makes some money.

Also, the best bloggers seem to have a niche.  The more specific one’s focus, the more likely that one can get ‘scoops’ and/or quickly comments on headlines.

I don’t fall into these traditional categories and that is a major reason why I haven’t started a blog before.  But I think this grey area also has some advantages.  Bloggers that are specialized, commercial-oriented, and/or biased for party or cause don’t appeal to average people.  And I think that getting people more involved will be important in the years ahead.
